Free and bargain books February 28, 2020 Part Two

It will be an adventure to see what we can find for new downloads today. There are a few suggestions worth checking out. Very encouraging.

BookBub has suggested a bargain book collection by an author we see quite often, Liz Isaacson. It’s a three book collection for $1.32

Author Chautona Havig has a FREE book for us this Friday. I can remember reading this last summer. It was a good experience.

Christmas Embers

Christmas Embers

Amazon quote:

Emily Byrne sits in her daughter’s classroom listening to the deepest wishes of twenty kindergarteners as she sketches them. But when little Joey Cordell breaks down, weeping and insisting the only thing he wants to find is his father, she isn’t sure where her Christmas project will take her.

Davia Cordell came to Rockland for one purpose–find her son’s father before she dies. An ex-prostitute, she’s well aware that the news will cause waves, but what’s a mother to do?

As these women join forces to search for Joey’s father–a Rockland area pastor, no less– Emily learns compassion for a woman who just wants the best for her son and can’t quite imagine that Jesus wants anything to do with her.

Each day, Davia weakens until Emily isn’t confident she’ll find the boy’s father in time–if at all. Doubts form. Should she look? Is it right to risk destroying a family like this–an entire church? The weight of that responsibility crushes her as Davia wastes away before her eyes.

A bargain at $1.30. When Night Comes is a suspense novel from my 2016 reading days and I do still remember the book.

When Night Comes (Jack Turner Suspense Series Book 1)

When Night Comes

Amazon quote:

Jack Turner comes back to Culpepper to give a series of lectures for his old history professor. Within days, he starts having bizarre experiences at night. Like he’s traveling back in time, experiencing the epic events in his lectures firsthand. He has no control over these experiences and can’t make them stop.

Joe Boyd thought he’d left big city crime back in Pittsburgh when he took a detective job in Culpepper, Georgia, a sleepy southern college town. His peaceful life ends when two students turn up dead in two weeks. The coroner is saying natural causes, but something doesn’t add up.

Rachel Cook, a teaching assistant at Culpepper, can’t believe Jack is back in her life again. She’s had a crush on him since she was fourteen, but Jack never knew. He instantly seems attracted to her, but she can tell…something is deeply troubling him.
Watching all this from a distance is Nigel Avery. He’s certain this experiment’s about to unravel. It’ll be his job to tie up all the loose ends when it does.

A new book showed up, one I’ve not seen before. I have nothing from this author in my collection either so double good. It’s a bargain at $1.32 and I’m looking forward to checking this out.

Irregardless of Murder (A Miss Prentice Cozy Mystery Series Book 1)

Irregardless of Murder

Amazon quote:

Amelia Prentice regains consciousness after tripping over the corpse of a former student in the safest of places, the public library.

Returning to the classroom where she teaches, she tries to pretend nothing happened. But when it becomes obvious that the victim’s death wasn’t an accident and she is now a murder suspect, she realizes that her cozy small-town life in New York’s Adirondack region will never be the same.

Crazy things begin to happen: The victim’s mother disappears. Amelia’s friend Lily is thrown overboard from the Lake Champlain ferryboat. A mysterious millionaire from Montreal seems determined to buy Amelia’s house. The school nurse is viciously attacked by a student. Amelia’s old beau Gil suddenly seems determined to rekindle their romance. Amelia is carjacked, and, of course, there’s the Lake Champlain Monster . . .

I thought I was done, but I found another gem. I’d leave it until tomorrow except it’s impossible to find the same books two days in a row, it seems, so….

Me & Mr Everything is a bargain at $1.32 and Brooke St James is becoming a favorite author so this appeals to me as a good choice.

Me & Mister Everything: A Romance (Tanner Family Book 4)

Me and Mr Everything

Amazon quote:

My brother needed thirty thousand dollars to make an investment that could potentially change everything for him. The problem was, he was still in college and working as a stable hand, so coming up with that kind of money seemed virtually impossible.

I was daydreaming of ways to help him while I covered the morning shift at Roxy’s coffee shop. Business was slow, so I couldn’t help but notice when a handsome stranger walked in. I didn’t know it at the time, but he would turn out to be the answer to my brother’s prayer.

And he might even be the answer to mine.

OK, I’m going to stop looking now, this is a big enough haul for today, I think.

Are the links helpful at all? I realized just now that they are for Amazon.ca which won’t be helpful in other countries. Maybe let me know in the comments if the book titles  would be better without links.

Happy Friday and Happy Reading
