It’s time again to clean out the accumulation of read and enjoyed books.
All of these books were great.

This was a pleasant reading experience and I’m looking forward to it happening again.
It seems wrong to share all this without much comment but the truth is my memories are too dim to have much to say.
That’s the trouble with reading so many books on a short timeline. Lots of skimming to keep things moving and then when it’s finished and instantly starting a new book, there is not much chance of good memory retention.
It gets so bad that sometimes when I pick up a story where I’m a few chapters in, I have to stop to ask myself what story is this again? Then there is a long pause while I allow memories to flood back in.
I do like to read slow enough to savor the experience but it isn’t practical most of the time. Unless it’s an especially compelling story then I do slow down for a stroll through the book.
It’s the constant temptation to buy more books that has created this need to hurry.
My newest justification for buying more than I can read is the thought that one day I may not carry on with this blog with bargain books but I will still have a long list of unread books to fall back on.
I don’t think about this reasoning too deeply because if I do it sounds like a frail excuse.
Frail or not that is my excuse and I’m sticking with it.

My current read, just started.
The detail I’m most impressed with so far?
Three sisters are fleeing from their controlling and abusive step father, with their mother’s blessing. Part of their journey includes a precarious ride down a nine mile wooden flue used to carry logs down the mountain to the river. They are familiar with the water flue and how it works because of time spent with their father who owned and operated the business.
I think it was a pretty gutsy thing for them to do.
Hopefully the rest of their journey will go as well. Probably not though, as tension makes for a good story.

Reading the reviews it looks like a good read and I’m going to give it a try. BookRunes gets the credit for today’s recommendation.

This seems to be a popular genre right now. More and more books keep popping up.
I’m not seeing anything else interesting at the moment but I’ll be back if any others show up.
Good morning, or afternoon, maybe evening, depending on where in the world you are.
It is a good day, we have a bargain book ,,,
and the guys are here to install my much needed replacement furnace. I’m looking forward to being warm again. We never know how much we appreciate something until we don’t have it.
I guess that’s the good thing about the bad things. It wakes us up and changes our thought patterns for the better. Someone wrote a post along those lines the other day. How that the hard times in life can add a new dimension to our character. I’ve heard more than one say – I would never ask to go through cancer, but I’m so grateful for the changes to my life because of that difficult journey.
It seems we become better people for walking through the hard times.
Freezing with no furnace for a few days doesn’t even remotely compare to a cancer journey, but even a small space of time in the cold can test us to see what we are made of.
Well, this wasn’t the conversation I had planned for today. It’s always a surprise, though, when a small thought hijacks our journey and takes us to unplanned destinations. Surprises are fun. They add a little spice to our day.
So, the original simple intention was to share a bargain book that looks interesting.
I have a pretty wide range of interests so I think the one attribute that makes a book enticing to me is quality of the writing. I am hooked on this one. It’s a romance without all the drama of a mystery and yet the sample makes me want to read more.
We have read a book from this author but it’s been 10 years, this will be a new experience.

I’ve finished my current read and it was sooo good.
There were so many awesome twists and turns, and a barrel full of red herrings to throw us off the track. I didn’t even have to think twice about five stars. You should read it, I think you’d like it.

This was the kind of book I like to savor for a little while before choosing the next one. This resolution rarely lasts very long so maybe I will be able to share what could possibly come next before I leave you. I just hope it will be as good as this one was.
OK, so after some deliberation, I’m going for book two in a continued series. Most these days are stand-alone novels but not this one. Book one was a joy to read, hopefully this book will be as good; so far it looks like it will be. New characters and situations were introduced at the end of book one and already things are headed in a different direction. Looking good.
This is a time travel series. It won’t make sense to you without this small piece of information.

This first one was my favorite. It wouldn’t let me go and I simply had to give it five stars.
Honor Bound (Love and Honor Book #1)
It may seem odd to seek peace by moving to a war-torn African country, but for medical missionary Dr. Cynthia Myers, it provided a way to escape a shallow life of unearned wealth, a philandering fiancé, and a father now square in the public eye as vice president of the United States. At least here she knows her work and life have meaning. But all that is thrown into chaos when she fails to save the life of a local warlord’s mortally wounded son.
As part of the Army Special Forces “A-Team” on a mission to capture and subdue the warlord, Captain Rick Norton is compelled to use deadly force to save Cynthia’s life. This next one was a fun read too. I loved it almost as much as the first one. I would be happy to read this one again. The first one too, really.

Yes, his older brother—and even his younger sister—have managed to tie the knot, but he has plenty more years of play and sporting events ahead of him before he need consider such a thing. Even matchmaking becomes a sport when gentlemen bet on the Season’s successes or failures in the club. He will not give them an opportunity to bet on him. Furthermore, why settle down when there are young women like Lady Alice who liven the sport of matchmaking with friendly wagers?
Lady Alice St. Clair is the fifth daughter of the Duke of Carr, and as she is independently wealthy and may do as she pleases, she has no reason to wed. She certainly has no intention of doing so. If the marriage mart offers nothing more than the unattractive boors who have presented themselves at her door for the past five seasons, it should hardly surprise her parents she cannot be persuaded to the altar. True, George Clavering has a full head of dark hair and a smile that is as mischievous as it is attractive, but no lady of character would change her mind for one above-average specimen of the male race.
For both, what began as a friendly bet between two bored guests at a ball turned into an earnest desire to help their protégés find happiness. And if some deeper feelings should stir in George to win Alice’s heart, then he has no choice but to dampen them. After all, Lady Alice has sworn she will not marry, and George has applauded her decision. For him to try to weaken her resolve now would be…unsportsmanlike.

It has been a good time, reading this week, or at least since last time I listed the read books for you.
It has been a slow week for new books all the way around. Maybe this weekend will be better for good suggestions. Not that I need any, it says there are over 900 unread books on my device now.
Must remember to read faster. I start out with good intentions but get into the story and forget to hurry. At least I enjoy the book, there is that.
We have books today, a variety of genres. Some light and some not so much.
This first one was suggested by 1531 Entertainment and Amazon identifies it as a best seller.
A Cowboy for Keeps (Colorado Cowboys Book #1)

Well, it was fun browsing but nothing more that was interesting and new showed up. Maybe tomorrow. Although three won’t be read in a big hurry so it’s not like there is a need to be greedy.
I hope your day is going well. I’m determined that mine is. I’m trying not to give in to the sadness of one of my kids heading home today. Missing my family is a good sign, I guess. It means I care. How sad would it be if I didn’t?
The sun is shining and all is well in my world otherwise. And we did have a good time when we were all together. I’ll do my best to dwell on memories of the good times. In between chores that are loudly calling my name.
I’d be tempted to escape to a book but I’m not liking the mean characters in my current read. Hopefully it will be done soon and I can move on to another story that I can’t bear to put down.
This has been a special year with family home for the first time in six years. I cherish every minute of the time we’ve had together but it can’t last forever, life moves on. Today was the beginning of it. There will be more before they finally leave for distant places. One family, three destinations. The beginning of empty nest syndrome. The up side to it all will be that each pursuit will bring each of them a step closer to discovering what life holds for them.
Bittersweet – sad to accept the change as they go, glad to see exciting opportunities for all of them.
For those of us left behind life will go on as is. But then again maybe it won’t. Life is like that, just when we think we are stuck in a rut life takes a hard left turn, or maybe a soft one. A turn is a turn though and we will hope for a happy one.
In the meantime, I need to drown-my-sorrows in a book. And what better thing is there to do, at a time like this, than look for more new books.
1531 Entertainment has one I want to read. It starts off with a bang, literally, and I want to see where it all goes. The setting is not one we see everyday and that adds an interesting element to the experience.

Ten books in two days. The temptation is strong to look for more so but I’m resisting.
I’m halfway through my current and very enjoyable read. Sitting on the edge of my seat wondering how Ann will avoid marrying an odious old man.
