Just one book today. 1531 Entertainment‘s suggestion is one I’ve read and think I’ve enjoyed. My memory on this is a little hazy.

Nothing much is showing up in the suggestion strip and it is not easy to care very much tonight.
Life all around us is going a little crazy. Just like in this book suggestion, where the abuser is leveling accusations loudly and convincingly with both words and fists, and his abuse has escalated. She is afraid for her life and rightfully so.
In real life the one yelling the loudest is the bully. Actually, if we look closely, he is the only one yelling. The abused has been emotionally beaten down over an extended period of time to the point she is incapable of standing up to protect herself. At rock bottom she will either choose to stay in abject defeat or in desperation plan and follow through on an escape.
It looks like we are at that point. Rock bottom lowest point.
Low point shows up in the amount and kind of damage being done. The bully has ceased to care about keeping injuries hidden from public view and rage is out of control. The last blow wasn’t fatal but the next one could be.
It’s funny how the world around the couple can often see the truth of a relationship when those living in it day-to-day can’t. Until it’s almost too late.
LPC Free Books offered the first suggestion. The next three appeared in the suggestion strips. All four look interesting. All authors are new to me, so no opinions here but plenty of optimistic hope.

Another snow storm has moved in and my neighbor bailed me out with her offer of a grocery run. Her husband is my snow removal guy and he had to dig his way to my front door after the last snowfall. The wind is crazy and it drifted up against my door. First time since I’ve been here.
Peaceful protest. Today is the day, as one live streamer observed, that Trudeau has declared war on his own people. Armored vehicles, riot gear, armies of police armed with tear gas and rubber bullets. Horses to push people. Drones to gather intel. This is Jan 6 all over again. Fences erected around the city core. The protest truly has been peaceful, there are hours of footage to bear witness to that fact. Peace and love confuses them. Their attempts to provoke a violent reaction from the citizens has failed.
They have won the skirmish but it’s not over. Trudeau declared in a public forum, awhile back, that he admires China. In his estimation a dictator can get things done. His end game is the same future for Canada. If this is not what we want…

One of the reasons it has been relatively easy for them to win at push back today was the quiet and beginning of a gradual pull-out to regroup. This is not over, can’t be over, not if we want to keep our democracy.
In lighter news..
My Amaryllis (first time ever for me) is starting to bloom. It’s amazing how quickly it grew once it got started.
It looks like watching this unfold will take the better part of my day. It is a good thing to be aware of truth and then do what we can to protect what is important.

These books were enjoyable but they were a star or so below my favorite reads. I didn’t skip too many big sections though so that in itself speaks well of them.
My current read is still a bargain. I haven’t started, only just decided on it. I’ll let you know how it goes.

I’ve been spending a lot of time keeping up with what’s happening in Ottawa Canada and the Trucker’s Freedom Convoy, and abandoning books.
Here is the current live stream I’m watching. Ottawalks on You Tube. They are having quite the snowstorm. It is wet compare to our dry snow. It accumulates so much faster than ours here in the center of Canada.
These videos have disabused us of a few false rumors too so it all good.
Browsing is the name of the game today. The usual daily suggestion emails had nothing new and exciting to offer so I’m systematically checking favorite author pages looking for new things.
I am not looking at Amazon suggestion strips these days as they have taken the position of a hard sell on porn and that’s not my thing. The minute I see a shirtless man I’m gone. That is usually on page two or three of a 49 to 62 page strip. It isn’t as if they don’t know my preferences, there are 3957 items (books) on my content page. I’m not buying as many books as I was but I guess that’s their loss. Less is better for me as I still have 261 unread books on my Kindle. I’m trying to significantly knock that number down.
Even with avoiding the suggestion strips I’m still adding more than I’m reading every month (big sigh.) I’m a sucker for good books!
I’m happy to see a new offering from a recently discovered author (2020) and I will look around to see what else is out there before I post this.
